Bomb Proof, Run and Play Front end

This is a project that has been taking up space in my garage for entirely too long. It's day will come, as funds permit.

This build-up should be a lot of fun. I plan a high pinion diff housing with a Detroit locker, 30 spline chromoly Longfield super axles, fully gusseted front axlehousing with vented rotors and IFS calipers.

The axle housing is being prepped and I still need all the components.

In this shot, one of the un-related projects is in the background. New laminate flooring. That project has since been completed. Now I can concentrate on getting my hands greasy!

The locating hole for the spring pin has been elongated with abuse. That's OK because the spring pad will weld on top.

Here you can see the spring perch is even bent down on the ends. The weld-on spring pad will fix that too.

I won't be using these stock Toyota axle/birfield assemblies. Until I get those Longfields though, it's good to have some spares for the trail.
